Obituary

Alana King Moore, 61, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her home.

Alana was born May 3, 1962, in Indianola, to Donna Hamner King and Glen Edward King. She was raised in Indianola, where she graduated from Indianola Academy in 1980. Alana then attended Mississippi Delta Junior College where she earned her Associate Degree in Education. She then went to Delta State University where she earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree in elementary education and also earned specialist certificates in gifted education. Alana began teaching school in 1984 and retired from the Sunflower County School District last year after 39 years of teaching. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola where she faithfully served the Lord she so dearly loved. Alana was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved her entire family, but she absolutely adored her beloved son, Thomas.

Alana was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Glen King.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Buster Moore of Indianola; son, Thomas Moore (Meagan) of Madison; and sister, Cheri Peeples (Greg) of Louisville.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Jimmy Pender officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
