Alyce Rose Landwirth Weems, 89, passed away in her sleep on April 23, 2024, in her home under hospice care.  She was born on April 29, 1934, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to her parents Anna Thompson Guinn and Manual Nathan Landwirth.  Early in her life, She, along with her siblings and parents relocated to Inverness, Mississippi, where her father ran a general mercantile store.  In high school, she met the love of her life, James (Jimmy) Edwin Weems.  They started their married life together in Starkville, Mississippi while Jimmy attended Mississippi State University.  After graduation, they began an adventure in the U.S. Army, with stops in Kentucky, Colorado, Germany and Alabama.  After being discharged from the Army, the family settled in Belzoni, then finally relocated to Alyce's hometown of Inverness. In Inverness, she and Jimmy became known for growing beautiful gardens year after year and Alyce became known far and wide for her delicious homemade dill pickles. Alyce supported the family, working in the farm tractor supply business, then several stops with independent insurance agencies.  Alyce was a devoted wife to Jimmy until his death in 2020. Together, they enjoyed annual visits to Branson, Missouri for the music shows, and trips to Atlanta, Georgia to see their Atlanta Braves.  Alyce is survived by her adult children, William Frederick (LaNelle) Weems of Brandon, MS, James Edwin (Lisa) Weems Jr. of Inverness, and Julie Ellen (Jay) Sykes of Leland, Mississippi.  Alyce was the proud grandmother of four grandsons and two great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Barbara Ann Landwirth Beckham and her husband James Lee Beckham; and brother James Leon Landwirth and his wife Bettye Ivy Landwirth. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at Inverness Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.  The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to CNA Doris Little, RN Julie Bain, and the nursing staff of Grace Hospice for their loving and compassionate care with our mother.
