Anita Faye Thompson Hodge, 63, of Indianola, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, at Merit Health Crossgates in Brandon.

Anita was born April 9, 1959, in Weir, to James Clifford Thompson and Clara Sue McPherson Thompson. She worked for Delta Pride Catfish for 15 years prior to its closure and later worked as a nursing assistant with home health for many years.  Anita was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren. Anita enjoyed fishing, visiting with family, and picking peas. She was a people person.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Randy Thompson; and grandson, Owen James Hodge.

She is survived by her husband, George R. Hodge, Sr. of Indianola; two sons, George Richard Hodge, Jr. (Sachèa) of Franklinton, Louisiana and Kevin Lamar Hodge (Carley) of Pearl; three daughters, Sabrina Irene Hodge (Hunter Chapman) of Pearl, Shellie Elizabeth Bannister of Richland, and Bridget Ann Barnett (Rocky) of Pearl; two brothers, Donald Thompson (Lorraine) of Evansville, Indiana and Robert Thompson of Kentucky; one sister, Beverly Thompson Red (Herbert) of Aberdeen; and nine grandchildren, Liera Star, Sylas, Brianna, Dominic, Daryl-Allen, Alissa, William, Ethan, and Tyler.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, May 16, 2022, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Morgan officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm at Providence Church Cemetery, Chester Tomnolen Road, Weir, MS 39772. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
