Ida Ann Smith Hendon, 81, of Indianola, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

Ann was born August 6, 1940, in Lambert, to Wilton Andrew Smith and Mary Irene Richardson Smith. She was a graduate of Mississippi Delta Junior College. She worked for many years at Wal Mart, The Antique Mall, and Planters Bank prior to her retirement. Ann had such a gentle, caring, and loving spirit. She enjoyed talking to her friends and never met a stranger. Ann loved flowers and was very creative, often making wreaths and other things for her home.  She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog Pup Pup. Ann was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh Lavert "Sonny" Hendon; and son, Marlon Hendon.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Lisa Hendon Shettles and husband Anthony of Thaxton and four grandchildren, Katie Boutwell, Julianna Boutwell, DJ Boutwell, and Cody Hendon.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home with Rev. John Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
