Doris Annette Hudson Perkins, 76, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away Friday December 4th, 2020 at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, Mississippi.

Annette was born July 23, 1944 in Louisville, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Nathan and Doris Tabor Hudson Steed. She graduated from Indianola High School and attended the Mississippi State University for Women.

To cherish her memory, Annette leaves behind her husband of 55 years, John Robert Perkins of Murrells Inlet, SC, two daughters Doris Renae Perkins (Dana) Marsh of Pawleys Island, SC and Robbie Jane Perkins (Chuck) Cooper of Pawleys Island, SC, one sister Kaye Hudson (Jacky) Martin of Anguilla, MS, two bonus sisters Barbara (late Don Smith) Smith and Donna (Larry) Braiser, one step-brother Charlie (Shelia) Steed, and her five grandchildren Dayna Dale Marsh, Tabor Jane Cooper, Blake "Perk" Perkins Marsh, Charles "Chas" Franklin Cooper III and Ally Elizabeth Cooper. In addition, Annette is also survived by her many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children. She is predeceased by her father, her sister Gloria Dale Hudson (Jay) Philley, stepfather Emmet L. Steed, stepbrother Larry (Patricia) Steed and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Annette, known by most as Mema or Annie, loved the Lord, her family, football, Peyton Manning, anything animal print, big sunglasses, unsweetened tea with 2 lemons, Diet Dr. Pepper, arts and crafts, Jack Daniels wings, Starburst (Starbucks), Flappachinos (Frappuccinos), any card games, Lobutcha, Disney, her girls' trip with her sister, daughters and nieces and being a tax preparer. During her many years of tax preparing, she made life-long friends with her clients. She never missed anything for her grandchildren, and her yells could be heard all through the stands during their games. She believed she was a coach and referee, rooting not only for her grandchildren, but their friends too. She had no problem letting the kids know when they weren't hustling. She also enjoyed being a pretend dance judge at dance competitions, using her program to judge dancers in her own, unique way. Everyone loved Mema, and as someone described her, she was an icon.

A memorial service will be announced in the coming months, as we want everyone to be safe from COVID-19. We would never want anyone to experience what our family has, and we are certain that MeMa is okay with our decision.
