Obituary

Archie Rodney Elmore, 80, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Rodney was born February 8, 1943, in Shaw, to James Earlie and Shermie Fitts Elmore. He grew up in Indianola and graduated high school and received his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. Rodney then joined the Army National Guard where he served his country well. He enjoyed helping people, especially when Hurricane Camille hit and so many people had to evacuate. Rodney retired from the Army National Guard with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed flying planes which led to his crop-dusting career. Rodney also loved boating, waterskiing, and playing bridge and will be remembered for playing practical jokes. Above all, he loved God. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianola.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Elmore.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June Wren Elmore and son, Stephen Craig Elmore, both of Indianola.
