Aubrey Lee Whitaker, 73, of Arcola, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. Aubrey was born June 9, 1948, in Shaw, to James and Susie Miller Whitaker. He worked in maintenance for many years at Allen Canning Company and most recently for the City of Gulf Shores. Aubrey was an extremely hard worker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Aubrey genuinely loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jessie Whitaker, Lee Whitaker, and Tommy Whitaker; and two sisters, Hesterine Whitaker and Glenda Roden. Aubrey is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Davis Whitaker; four children, Aubrey Lee Whitaker, Jr. (Penny) of Greenville, James "Bubba" Whitaker (Sherry) of Greenville, Jennie Partain (Robert) of Foley, Alabama, and Robert Dale Whitaker (Mary) of Arcola; two nephews that he raised, Marcus Boyles and Billy Miller; two brothers, Floyd Whitaker (Melissa) of Hamburg, Arkansas and Ricky Whitaker of Lake Village, Arkansas; four sisters, Mae Raymond of Leland, Patsy Pinion of Leland, Shirley Whitaker of Indianola, and Mary Luby of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Chance Ray and Rev. Pete Roncali officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
