Aubrey Lee Whitaker, Jr., 55, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, surrounded by his loved ones.

Lee was born on October 6, 1969, in Indianola to Aubrey and Jean Whitaker. He worked for Mississippi Marine, where he became shop foreman. Lee loved fishing, riding the back roads with his wife, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. His favorite way of taking care of his wife was by bringing her a Coke and a BC every morning. He loved doing mechanic work for everyone, mostly doing it for free out of the kindness of his heart. He loved helping people. His home was open to many people. Lee loved to feed everyone, and he was always asking everyone if they were hungry. His grandkids were the highlight of his life. Anytime he fixed something for his grandkids, his favorite saying was "Whose da Papaw?" He loved joking, making people laugh, and coming up with the craziest quotes.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Lee Whitaker; paternal grandparents, James and Susie Whitaker; and maternal grandparents, JT and Dorothy Davis.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Penny Elizabeth Whitaker; his mother, Jean Whitaker; five children, LaTasha Garcia (Tino), Chance Ray (Amanda), Christina Whitaker (Jeremy Nix), Cecelia Chambless (Joe), and Nikki Bilbo (David); two brothers, James Whitaker (Sherry) and Robert Dale Whitaker (Mary); one sister, Jennie Partain (Robert); eleven grandchildren, Stetson Garcia (Somer), Jerek Garcia (Alexis), Isaiah Garcia (Brianna), Alexis Brown (Aleck), Kendall Ray, Raylee Chambless, Ethan Tolbert (Lizzie), Paisley Nix, Miller Nix, Melana Nix, and Emma Bilbo; nine great grandchildren, Aubrey Garcia, Briella Garcia, Maicey Garcia, Bexley Garcia, Rowdy Garcia, Monroe Garcia, Remi Garcia, Carson Brown, and Isla Brown; three more great grandchildren on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, at The River Pentecostal Church, 2055 Hwy 1, Greenville, MS. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in Leland Stoneville Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
