Barbara Robb Jones, 91, of Moorhead, Mississippi, passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 16, 2017, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Barbara was born November 23, 1925 in Moorhead, Mississippi and was the daughter of Charlie and Daisy McKnight Robb. She accepted Jesus at an early age and was a lifelong member of The Moorhead Baptist Church. During World War II, November 26, 1944, she married her husband Lowell Jones, Sr, and they raised their 3 children Gail, Lowell Jr., and Esther in Moorhead. Barbara was a teacher at the Moorhead Grammar School where she taught Expression (now called speech). During the 1950's, she directed the play Old Man River that many of her former students still speak of today. In 1954, she and her husband Lowell built the Galoe theater in Moorhead, where she was the manager until it was destroyed in 1971 by a tornado. Barbara played a small part in the movie Nightmare in Badham County during the 1970's, that was filmed outside of Moorhead at the Sunflower County Correctional Farm. In the early 80's, she opened one of the very first consignment stores in Moorhead that served the entire Sunflower county area. She also made and decorated birthday and large tiered wedding cakes for the public. More recently, Barbara was contracted by Whitfield Media of Grenada, Mississippi to be the on air talent for Kirk Brother Ford in Greenwood. She made numerous commercials for Kirk Brothers where she coined the phrase, "And That's No Bull." Her commercials brought her notoriety from the Mississippi Delta to Memphis, TN. When dining in local restaurants, many people would recognize Barbara from the TV commercials and ask her for her autograph. She loved the TV series "Gunsmoke," and always wanted to be at home in time to watch her favorite program. She will forever be remembered for her caring, gentle nature and her love of others.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Daisy Robb; her only brother Charlie Robb, Jr.; and her husband Lowell. She leaves to cherish her memory, Gail Oswalt (Jimmy), Lowell Jones, Jr. (Donna), Esther Coerver (Tom); seven grandchildren, Jonas Oswalt, Barbie Jones Vaughn, Chase Jones (Kayla), Rachael Jones McDaniel (Adam), Jay Duke, Tykie Olinde, Roslyn Olinde Page, Andrew Olinde (Mary); and 13 great grandchildren, Lindsey Oswalt, Allie Vaughn, Ella Vaughn, Shelby Jones, Camden Jones, Tristen Helms, Joey Brue, Patrick Brue, Kieley Middlebrook, Tristan Page, Riley Page, Brooke Olinde, Tyler Hill and her best friend from childhood, Jane Toler Harpole.

The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral services for Barbara will be at The Moorhead Baptist Church in Moorhead, January 21 at 2pm (visitation 1pm-2pm). Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola.
