Barbara Jean Norris Upton, 75, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.

Barbara was born April 29, 1947, in Indianola, to Thomas Loyd and Mary Eve Mixon Norris. She was raised in the Linn community where she attended school. Barbara married the love of her life, Donnie Upton, on November 13, 1970, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She enjoyed raising flowers, especially lilies. Barbara loved going for rides with Donnie. It never mattered where they were going, she just enjoyed the ride. She was a member of Roundaway Baptist Church.  Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandson, Lewis.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Loyd Jr. Norris and Tommy Mack Norris; and four sisters, Gladys Beatrice Bell, Kelcie B. Williams, Patricia Ann Lester, Bonnie Dean Nute.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donnie Upton; two daughters, Jennifer Renee Upton and Cynthia Upton (Adam) Johnson; grandson, Adam Lewis Johnson, Jr. all of Indianola; daughter in love, Chelsi Pearce of Brandon, two sons in love, Trey Pearce of Sunflower and Michael Pearce of Marianna, Arkansas; sister in law, Betty Norris; brother in law, Lamar Williams of Ventress, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Burton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roundaway Cemetery in Doddsville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
