Price
Nov 11, 1943 — Mar 25, 2026
Isola
Maudie Beatrice Smith Price, 82, of Madison, and formerly of Isola, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
Mrs. Price was born on November 11, 1943, in Belzoni, MS, to Walton "Dee" Smith, Sr., and Annie Nadine Roberts Smith, the third of six children. She graduated from Belzoni High School and attended Delta Beauty College, where she was later employed.
She married the love of her life, Robert E. Price, Jr. (Bobby), on August 18, 1963, and they made Isola, Mississippi, their home for 50 years and raised two daughters, until she recently moved to Madison, Mississippi. After leaving her employment with Delta Beauty College, she would serve as an administrative assistant with the Humphreys County School system before working for John McBride with Chevron Oil and eventually retiring from Simmons Catfish in Yazoo City, MS, at 71 years old.
She and her husband were members of First Baptist Church of Belzoni for 60 years, where her husband served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a dedicated and devoted Christian, a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved sewing for her children when they were young, and she loved gardening and planting many flowers every spring. She shared her birthday with her firstborn daughter, Tammy, and would eventually start traveling with her daughters and best friends, Wesie Dupy and Donnie Stewart, taking trips each year to explore different places and celebrate their birthdays. She was a kind and giving woman to anyone she knew, had a wonderful sense of humor, and always wore a smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby, her daughter Tammy, her sister Helen Henson, and her brothers Buddy and Marty Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Bergeron (Troy) of Gluckstadt, her granddaughter Amy Bergeron (Ashley McClain) of Flowood, Gray Higginbotham (Kaity) of Schlater, Daniel Higginbotham (Lauren) of Greenwood, Chase Bergeron of Flowood, one great granddaughter Mary Cole Higginbotham of Schlater, a sister, Diane Herren of Hernando, a brother Gene Smith (Linda) of Leesville, LA and several nieces and nephews. Bea will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her daughter would like to thank all of Mrs. Price's neighbors and friends for all the love, support, care, and assistance they gave Mrs. Price after she lost her husband while staying in her home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Belzoni. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Trent Sligh and Rev. Richard Wiman officiating. Burial will follow in Belzoni Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials and/or donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of her daughter, Tammy Virginia Higginbotham, and/or the Veterans' Association in honor of her husband, Bobby Price, who served in the US Air Force.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ben Askew, David Busby, Robbie Henson, Randy Henson, Scott Henson, Rodney Higginbotham, Trey Smith, Jason Smith, Mark Smith and Richard Smith.
