Beth Allen Lyon, 77, of Oxford, MS, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19, at Indianola City Cemetery followed by a visitation from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Indianola First Methodist Church, Bailey Hall, 204 Main Street, Indianola, MS.
Beth was born on September 20, 1948, to the late J.D. Allen and Alice Crowell Allen. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1966. While growing up in Indianola, Beth was given honors including Miss Indianola Bathing Beauty, Most Beautiful, and Miss Hospitality. She received her degree in Home Economics from the University of Mississippi in 1970. Beth remained a lifelong Ole Miss fan and was so proud of her children and grandchildren for carrying on the family tradition.
After many years as an active parent and homemaker, Beth became the Director of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce. For 30 years, she helped the town of Indianola through organizing the annual B.B. King Homecoming Festival, Community Fund Drive, and a host of other events throughout the years.
Beth's greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include Beth's loving husband of 56 years, Rupert M. Lyon, Jr.; three children: Jackie Lyon Mulkey (John) of Oxford, Rupert Allen Lyon (Brenda) of Glen Allan, MS, and Claire Lyon Williamson (Todd) of Oxford; and seven grandchildren: Drew Mulkey (Gaddie) of Metairie, LA, Madeline Mulkey of Oxford, Bailey Lyon (Jordan) of Denton, TX, Wells Lyon (Taylor) of Dallas, TX, Griffin Lyon, Alice Williamson and Betsy Williamson all of Oxford. She is also survived by her sisters Amy Allen Barron of Oxford and Nancy Allen Morrison (Carl) of Germantown, TN.
Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Burton Funeral Home.
