Bettie Mae Ward Montgomery, 82, of Sunflower, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Shelby Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelby.

Bettie was born November 18, 1938, to M.K. and Annie Mae Locke Ward. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and canning. Bettie loved to clean her house and would often clean ten times a day. Her favorite thing to do was riding with her husband Ted on Sunday afternoons. Bettie was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted Montgomery; and brother, Jack Ward.

Bettie is survived by five children, Thurman (Annette) Montgomery of Batesville, Larry (Joy) Montgomery of Batesville, Rosemary (Neal) Britt of Sunflower, Robert Montgomery of Greenville, and Stephanie Burton of Etta; sister, Barbara Stevens of Batesville; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 11:30 am, Monday, November 15, 2021, at Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am at Sunflower Baptist Church with Rev. Trey Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Winona. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
