Betty Jean Howard Barnett, 64, of Doddsville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home.

Betty was born August 21, 1954 to V. W. and Maggie Lee Swindle Howard in Isola. She worked for Allen Canning Company as a Purchasing Agent for 15 years until her retirement. Betty was a person that everyone could lean on for advice and help. She took care of anyone in need and delivered for Meals on Wheels in the Doddsville area. Betty loved to read, cook, work puzzles, make candles, and play computer games. She was known to make the best chicken salad, chicken rotel, and sweet tea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Barnett; and two sisters, Helen Cobb and Patricia Dickerson.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Brenda Cockrell and her husband David of Indianola, Toni Barnett and her partner Davis Johnston of Carrollton; one nephew that was more of a son, Andy Birdsong of Doddsville; one brother, Virgil "Bubba" Howard and his wife Cynthia of Doddsville; three sisters, Lee Levingston and her husband Ottie of Cleveland, Hazel "Sissy" Goodman of Indianola, Mary Pate of Indianola; and two grandchildren, Hunter Barry and Austin Vardaman.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
