Betty Jo Peeples, 74, of Indianola and formerly of Madison, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at South Sunflower County Hospital. Betty was born February 4, 1942 to Dora Johnson and James Loyd Peeples. Betty received her Associate of Arts degree from Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead. She worked in accounts payable as a secretary for Entergy for 30 years until her retirement. Betty was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and was a member of Professional Secretaries Club.
Betty had a large circle of friends that greatly enjoyed each other's company. They loved to fellowship and enjoy a great meal together. Her friends and family were devoted and faithful to Betty. She always kept in touch with these loved ones. She was always interested in what was taking place in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their families. Betty was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one aunt, Lois Bailey; and uncles, Lynn and Herman Peeples. Betty leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Bobby Loyd Peeples and his wife, Billie Faye, of Shaw, Billy Doyle Peeples and his wife, Donna, of Indianola; sisters, Faye Peeples Wright and her husband, Charles, of Olive Branch, Lynda Peeples Whatley and her husband, Harold, of Indianola; one aunt, Nellie Peeples of Indianola and her son, Greg, of Louisville; three nieces; four nephews; and fourteen great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 7th from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. funeral service at Burton Funeral Home Chapel in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola. Rev. William A. Smith of Eastwood Baptist Church will officiate.
