Bettye Jean Ivy Landwirth, 86, of Inverness, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
She was born March 22, 1931, to the late Clarence and Eula Ivy. She graduated from Indianola High School and began her 32-year career with South Central Bell. She married her husband James Leon Landwirth on January 24, 1952, and they made their home in Inverness. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence "Buddy" Ivy and sister, Mary Ethel (Haskell) Beam. She is survived by her husband James Leon Landwirth, son James David Landwirth of Inverness, daughter Carol Virginia Landwirth of Jackson, and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church of Inverness on the morning of Saturday, November 25, at 10 o'clock, preceding the 11 o'clock funeral service located in the sanctuary. Mrs. Landwirth will be interred at Southside Cemetery, located east of Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts can be made to the First Baptist Church of Inverness or a charity of the donor's choice.
