Billy Joe Childs aged 76, went to be with his wife, Donie Ruth and son Joey on May 20, 2021. He was born on December 4, 1944 to James Alfred and Nancy Colyer Childs.  He lived his entire life in the Belzoni-Gooden Lake, MS area.

He is survived by his two daughters Nancy Angelene Childs Durham (Joe) and Mary Anita Childs Forbes (Robbie).  He was blessed with one grandson Preston Forbes.  His surviving siblings are Gary Childs (Jill), Doris Grisham and Edna Pearl Hobson, and loving sister in laws.  Along with a host of nieces nephews and friends that he cherished time with, thru the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son, parents and seven siblings James, Robert (Bud), Garnel Wesley, Willie Rufus, Tommy, Morris, and Alfred Jr Childs.

He was raised on the family farm growing crops and raising livestock.  To support his young family, he started working in home construction and metal building construction.  This turned into his lifelong dream of owning his own business.  He started Childs Construction Company, which serviced the Humphreys County area for many decades.  After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with Preston and Robbie on the farm, doing what he could to help.  He also enjoyed deer hunting with them.  There was always a lot discussions about his story accuracy of the wild animal and game, he saw thru his binoculars and scope.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 10 am at Straight Bayou Baptist Church in Anguilla MS.  The services will begin at 11 am with burial immediately after the service, in the church cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
