Billy Ray Cockrell, Jr., affectionately known as Ray, 45, of Pontotoc, and formerly of Indianola, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Ray was born May 11, 1977, in Indianola, to Billy Ray and Sara Williamson Cockrell. He was a truck driver for KC Logistics in Sherman for over ten years. Ray was a very hard worker. He loved his family, especially his nephews and niece, which he treated like his own.

Ray was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Cleopatra Williamson; paternal grandparents, JM and Lucille Cockrell; and brother in law, Swep Jenkins.

He is survived by his parents; Billy Ray and Sara Cockrell of Indianola; sister, Angela Schad (Chay) of Coila; three nephews, Swep, Mason, and Matthew; one niece, Maddy; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. A private family burial will follow. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
