Billy Gerald Pinion, Sr., 83, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Indywood Personal Care Home in Indianola.
Billy was born September 8, 1938, in Indianola, to Oaffie Ealon Pinion and Verla Mae Davis Pinion. He worked as a serviceman for Gresham Petroleum company for 35 years prior to his retirement due to health. During those years, he and his son also installed sprinkler systems. After his retirement, he and his family opened Beaverdam Fresh Farms and raised tomatoes. Billy was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former volunteer with the Indianola Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He was a kind man that was always happy and smiling. Billy never raised his voice and never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking to people. Billy loved being a father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Ann Downs Pinion of Indianola; children, Jerry Pinion of West Point, Tina Pinion Benton of Madison, and James Causey of Indianola; five grandchildren, Angela Duncan, Dallas Pinion, Dustin (Ali) Pinion, Jonathan (Meaghan) Johnson, and Justin (Jenny) Johnson; four great grandchildren, Adonis Duncan, Avie Pinion, Lylah Pinion, and Ella Johnson; and one brother, Ray Pinion (Margaret) of Inwood, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Burton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home with Rev. John T. Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The American Diabetes Association.
The service will be livestreamed on the Burton Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend.
