Obituary

Billy Gene Weeks, Sr., 75, of Sunflower, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

Billy was born April 3, 1945, in Tallahatchie County to James W. "Pete" Weeks and Isabel Underwood Weeks. He was the former Chief of Police for the Town of Sunflower for 25 years and also worked as Jail Administrator at the Sunflower County Jail for many years. Billy served in law enforcement for over 35 years prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Isabel Weeks; wife, Mary Ann Weeks; brother, Jeff Weeks; sister, JoAnn Weeks Miller; and grandson, Jimmy Gatlin, Jr.

Billy is survived by six children, Debbie Cottle (Dennis) of Minden, Louisiana, Billy Weeks, Jr. (Shannon) of Indianola, Lisa Hock of Minden, Louisiana, Jimmy Gatlin, Sr. (Kathy) of McComb, Kent Gatlin (Ginger) of McComb, and Angela Kent of McComb; one sister, Peggy Weeks Gladden (David) of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 1, 2020, from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements. Masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced.
