Blanche Ellington Chambless, 89, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

She was born July 24, 1928, in Blaine to Jessie and Pearl Mathews Ellington. Mrs. Chambless worked for Ludlow Manufacturing for 20 years and later worked as a teacher at Indianola Head Start for 17 years. She loved working in her yard, gardening, cooking, and reading. Mrs. Chambless loved children, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola.

Mrs. Chambless was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Woodrow Chambless; son, Rickey Chambless; brother, Richard Ellington; and two grandchildren, Milton Chambless, Jr. and Woody "Gene" Chambless, Jr.

She is survived by three sons; Milton Chambless and wife Ginger of Pearl, Woody Chambless and wife Carol of Kerrville, Texas, and Bobby Chambless and wife Sandra of Greenville; four daughters, Dina Ann Holeman of Petal, Judy Long of Horn Lake, Barbara Horne and husband Edward of Hernando, and Wanda Roncali and husband Tony of Indianola; brother, William Ellington of Carthage; sister, Marti Booth of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. A second visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
