Bobby Lewis Johnson, 83, of Inverness, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at South Sunflower County Hospital.

Bobby was born January 4, 1941, in Inverness, to Elmer Lewis Johnson and Margie Towery Johnson. He was a lifetime resident of Inverness where he graduated from Inverness High School. Bobby was a United States Navy veteran. He worked as a machinist and parts man for Bell Incorporated in Inverness for 35 years before his retirement. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors and loved deer hunting and turkey hunting. He loved baseball whether he was watching it on television or in person. Bobby enjoyed reading and watching western movies and shows. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and spent his time taking care of his family, especially his two boys.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Boutwell Johnson; two sons, Barry Johnson and Stephen Johnson (Brandi); granddaughter, Ruthie Johnson all of Inverness; brother, Randy Johnson; sister-in-law, Shirley Turner of Inverness; two brothers-in-law; Leon Boutwell of Canton and Jack Boyd Boutwell of Jasper, Indiana; special nieces, Andrea (Todd) Fulton of Inverness and Anglia Arledge (Aaron) of Bethlehem, Georgia; great-niece, Amelia Grace Arledge; great-nephew, Eric Turner Arledge; and other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. A private family burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
