Bobby Leonester Paxton, 72, of Inverness, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home. Bobby was born in Inverness where he was a lifelong resident.
Bobby served his country for six years with the Mississippi Air National Guard. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Isola, where he was the choir director. He served as a dedicated member of Sunflower County Search and Rescue, and was the former chief of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department. Bobby worked for Tennessee Gas in Isola, and retired as plant foreman after 47 years of service. He was the operator and secretary of the South Sunflower Water Association from 1973 until his retirement in 2012. After his retirement he owned and operated The Sno Shack in Inverness.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, L. G. Paxton and Vera Paxton Corley. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Connie Roberts Paxton; son, Lee Paxton (Mericlare); daughter Rhonda Paxton (Scott) Jackson, all of Inverness; sisters Martile Goldman and Lydia (Charles) Headrick, all of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Kelsey (Ryan) Swindle, Allee Paxton, Presley Scott Jackson, Lane Clare Paxton, John Reece Jackson; and great grandchild, Jax Carter Swindle.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home, Indianola. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church, Isola, with Rev. Jimmy Cresswell and Rev. Bryan Burge officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Inverness, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home.
