Bonnie Hatten Thornton, 73, from Ruleville, Ms passed away peacefully today March 20 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Bonnie was married to Guy Thornton of Ruleville on December 30, 2005 and they enjoyed every minute of their time together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Guy Thornton; sons, Denny Hatten of Gulfport and Tony Thornton (Robyn) of Teoc; daughters Melissa Holmes of Arabi, LA and DeDe Walker (Danny)of Gluckstadt; 8 grandchildren, AJ Junkin (Deanna), Lauren Smith (Scott), Shelby Junkin, Gage Hatten, Emme Walker, Grayson Walker, Joseph Walker & Tyler Thornton; 4 great-grandchildren, Paisley Junkin, Brantley Junkin, Wesley Junkin and Haley Smith; her niece, Vanessa McClain Harris & her family as well as Chris & Mandy McClain held a very special place in her heart.
Bonnie knew how to love big and had a smile like no other to greet you anytime she saw you. She loved her church family and was always willing to serve wherever she was needed. She and Guy loved traveling to Mountainview, Arkansas, and Gulfport on a regular basis. We have so many great memories of sitting on the porch in Gulfport talking, eating, reminiscing, and making plans for the future. Bonnie was never one to shy away from sharing her faith. She loved the Lord and would tell anyone who would listen about His Amazing Grace and His Gift of Salvation. Bonnie will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will be dearly missed. She told us in a letter she left behind that we are to embrace each day with Joy and love in our hearts and to dance when we can. We Love You Bonnie!
