Carolyn Sue Hawkins Ray, 79, of Indianola and formerly of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Delta Health the Medical Center in Greenville.

Carolyn was born August 15, 1941, in Humphreys County to Grady Silas Hawkins and Eula Faulkner Hawkins. She worked for Modern Line Products for over 20 years prior to her retirement. Carolyn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing softball and played on league and tournament teams. Carolyn also enjoyed fishing and working in her yard and garden while her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vera Freeman; and two brothers, Billy Hawkins, and Tommy Hawkins.

Carolyn is survived by her three children, Missy (Danny) Jones of Carrollton, Mike Smith of Horn Lake, and Christian Hawkins of Kankakee, IL; brother, Bobby (Linda) Hawkins of Belzoni; eight grandchildren, Kristin Simpson, Courtney Smith, Shelbi Smith, Gauge Smith, and Mason Smith, Christina Hawkins, Violet Hawkins and Rose Mary Hawkins; and three great grandchildren, Kynleigh Noe, Paxton Noe, and Ember Simpson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 18, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Belzoni Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
