Catherine Ophelia Barnett Ervin, 78, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, June 01, 2017 at her home. She was born June 30, 1938 in Vaiden, and was the daughter of J. D. and Addie Blanche Barnett. Catherine worked for Ludlow Manufacturing for many years until their closure. In 1976, she began working in General Merchandising at SuperValu until her retirement in 1994.
Catherine loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Indianola. She centered her entire life around her family. She loved having her children and grandchildren home where they enjoyed many hours playing dominoes at the kitchen table. She loved playing any type of card game, especially rummy, with her family and friends. Catherine enjoyed cross stitching, crossword puzzles, and working in her yard. She loved music and loved to dance with her husband at home. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Logan Ervin, Sr.; brothers, Joseph D. "Pete" Hobson and James Lamar Barnett; and sisters, Dorothy Mae Alford and Gladys Claudine Boyles. She leaves to cherish her loving memory sons, Paul L. Ervin, Jr. and wife Sharon of Inverness, Benjamin E. Ervin and wife Elizabeth of Indianola, Patrick E. Ervin of Inverness; daughters, Ann Banks and husband Ricky of Greenwood, Mary Lee Branan and husband Otto of McComb, and Teresa Grissette and husband Ricky of Indianola; brothers, J.D. "Bud" Barnett and Roy Cecil Barnett; sisters Mildred Estelle Henderson and Minnie Frances Flemmings; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 11:00 am until the 12:00 noon funeral service at Second Baptist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
