Cecil Clifton Coleman, 86, of Inverness, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Cecil was born February 3, 1932 in Inverness to Daniel Thomas and Annie Caldwell Coleman. He was a lifelong resident of Inverness. Cecil worked as a Receiving Clerk for SuperValu for 36 years prior to his retirement in 1990. He was a bluegrass singer who loved music. Cecil had a ministry where he would travel to nursing homes around the delta singing for residents that lived there. He never drove in his entire life due to being legally blind. Cecil would hitchhike to and from work every day. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Inverness.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruby Coleman; daughters, Cathy Nell Brockwell of Monticello, Arkansas, Cecelia Ann Coleman of Rogers, Arkansas; step-sons, John Henry Mizell of Conover, North Carolina, William Joseph Mizell of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral service at First Baptist Church in Inverness. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
