Charles Eddie Bowen, Sr., 79, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at South Sunflower County Hospital.

Charlie was born August 12, 1945, in Ruleville, to Eddie James Bowen and Mary Louise Sibley Bowen. He earned his bachelor's degree in education and taught school for one year and then went to work for Motorola for the next 12 years. He then went to barber college and opened Charlie's Barber Shop in Indianola. Charlie enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He liked talking and telling stories, but he mostly used his barbershop to tell others about Jesus. Charlie enjoyed riding around, hunting, fishing, and reading his Bible. He attended Roundaway Baptist Church in Doddsville.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Travis Bowen; three sisters, Alice Dodd, Daisy Weatherford, and Carolyn Burchfield; and his son, Charles Eddie "Chase" Bowen, Jr.

He is survived by two daughters, Paige Rushing (Eric) and Rebecca Brower (Bryan); brother, Clifford James Bowen (LaCelle); his special friend, Brenda Lassett; the mother of his children, Becky Bowen; his ex-wife, Bettie Weeks; one grandson; and three granddaughters.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Moorhead Cemetery in Moorhead with Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
