Charles Russell Holeman, Jr., 70, of Indianola, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side.

Russell was born in Greenwood, one of four children, to the late Charles and Pauline Holeman. He grew up in Greenwood and Indianola and attended Indianola High School. Russell served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He worked as a transport driver for Gresham Petroleum Company for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Russell was an avid Nascar fan. He also loved dirt track racing, Ole Miss football, and every Law & Order series ever made. Russell was a man of few words, but if he loved you, he really loved you. He loved working in his yard and keeping it cut. Above all, Russell was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Travis Holeman; and sister, Charlene Whitaker.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Holeman; children, Betty Womack of Calera, Alabama, Beverly Bennett (Stan) of Inverness, Juanita Hancock of Magee, and Billy Joe Womack Jr. (Denise) of Greenville; one sister, Brenda McCarty (Frank) of Indianola; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Roncali officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
