Obituary

Dr. Charles Lowell Jones, Jr., 70, of Glen Allan, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Washington Care Center in Greenville.

Lowell was born April 2, 1950, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Charles Lowell Jones, Sr. and Barbara Robb Jones. He was affectionately known to many as Bear or Doc. Dr. Jones was an optometrist and owned Delta Eye Center in Indianola and Belzoni. He practiced for 33 years prior to his retirement in 2008 due to illness. He loved being an eye doctor and devoted himself to his patients. Dr. Jones served on the Mississippi State Board of Optometry for three terms and served on the Southern Council of Optometry in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as President in 1995. He was a member of the Indianola Rotary Club and earned the Paul Harris medal. Lowell was incredibly supportive of The Boy Scouts of America.  He was a devoted member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.  Lowell loved his family with all he had, especially his loving wife, Donna. He also was an avid fisherman and loved Alaska and his trips there.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Barbara Jones, and stepson, Jay Duke.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 29 years, Donna Duke Jones of Glen Allan; two sons, Charles Lowell "Chase" Jones, III (Kaylin) and Jay Duke, Jr.; two daughters, Barbie Jones and Rachel Jones; two sisters, Gail Oswalt (Jimmy Lloyd) of Moorhead, and Esther Coerver (Tom) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 22, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. A private family burial will take place in Caile Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
