Charles Edward "Charlie" Steed, 71, of Inverness, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home.

Charlie was born March 16, 1951, in Indianola, to Emmett Lee Steed, Jr. and Minnie Jefcoat Steed. He worked as a painter and drywall finisher for many years and was well known for his craft. Charlie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved joking and cutting up with people. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Doris Steed; daughter, Kimberly Ann Steed; and brother, Larry Eugene Steed.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shelia Killebrew Steed of Inverness; son, Brandon Fisher Steed of Inverness; stepdaughter, Diane Davenport (Rickey) of Lake Cormorant; two sisters, Donna Steed Brasier (Larry) of Indianola and Barbara Steed Smith of Saltillo; and three step grandchildren, Alex Williams, Katelyn Taylor, and Brody Taylor.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
