Charles E. Whatley, 74, of Moorhead, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his home.

Charles was born on January 3, 1949, in Greenwood, to Charles H. and Juanita Whatley. He was a member of Moorhead Baptist Church. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Juanita Whatley and two brothers, Ralph Edward Whatley and Bobby Joe Whatley. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roberta Risner Whatley of Moorhead; his daughter, Meredith Taylor and her husband, Kenneth of Benoit; and a granddaughter, Shelby Taylor Forman and her husband, Brett of Tipton, Indiana. Charles is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Reedy and her husband, Bill of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Margie Makamson and her husband, Joe of Morgan City; and one brother, Harold E. Whatley and his wife, Lynda of Indianola. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Moorhead Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
