Christopher Ryan
Roberson
Aug 23, 1982 — Apr 2, 2021
Indianola
Christopher Ryan Roberson, 38, of Indianola, passed away peacefully April 2, 2021, with his loving family by his side.
Ryan was born August 23, 1982, in Indianola, to JR and Wanda Roberson. Ryan grew up hunting and playing baseball. With each passing year, the passion for the game grew within him. The summer before his senior year of high school, Ryan went on a mission trip to Sweden with his baseball team to play baseball and minister to the other guys their age. His athleticism and dedication to the sport allowed him to be a part of Indianola Academy's 2001 State Championship Team, the Mississippi Delta Community College 2002 State Championship Team, the Delta State University 2004 State Championship Team, and he finished his playing career at Mississippi Valley State University where he earned his master's degree. Ryan coached little league hoping to instill the love of baseball in the next generations.
As much as he loved baseball, Ryan loved nothing more than God and his family. He was a loving son, brother, and father. His children meant the world to him. Ryan had such a sharp mind, that one day he decided he was going to make a radio commercial for Roberson Floor, he scripted the speaking parts for his children and called Charlie Ross and they made their commercial.
He was very loving, patient, humble, trustworthy, and loyal. Ryan faced many obstacles during his illness; however, he met them all head on with a fighter's spirit. He trusted in God and he never lost focus that everything that happened was according to His plan. Ryan always went out of his way to help anyone. He loved visiting with people, running his mouth, and picking on people. Ryan had an amazing personality and was annoyingly witty. He was very humble and charismatic and that caused everyone that met him to remember him. Even when Ryan was facing death, he was thinking of everyone else.
Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Cecil Roberson; paternal step grandmother, Cecelia Roberson; maternal grandfather, Gordon Whitfield; and by his maternal great-grandmother, Carrie Coats.
He is survived by his parents, JR and Wanda Roberson of Indianola; paternal grandmother, Faye (Joe) Garcia of Madison, Illinois; maternal grandmother, Betty Whitfield of Indianola; son, Cooper Fields Roberson; daughter, Olivia Wyatt Roberson; two sisters, Whitney (Stump) Crow of Water Valley and Brandi (Mo) Kachouri of Southaven; three nieces, Lottie Crow, Zola Crow, and Sophia Kachouri; and one nephew, Ryan Crow.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 4, 2021, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 5, 2021, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.
