William Charles "Chuck"
Hendon
Jul 24, 1966 — Aug 10, 2026
Shaw, MS
William Charles Hendon, known by his family and friends as Chuck, 60, of Shaw, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Chuck was born on July 24, 1966, at Bolivar County Hospital in Cleveland, Mississippi. Chuck was a longtime Christian who shared salvation through Jesus Christ with others in his own very unique way.
Chuck lived most of his life in Shaw, where he was raised, mostly because he loved the county life. For those who knew him best, he often proudly referred to himself as a “Redneck” and at times enjoyed promoting it in his own unique ways. He was a dedicated sportsman who enjoyed everything about the great outdoors, including jeep riding with his precious little pug, “WeeWee,” every chance he got.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he actively served in many locations around the world. While serving, he made many lifelong friends whom he considered family and actively kept in touch with until the Lord called him home.
Chuck never met a stranger! He was loyal, through and through, to his friends. Those who knew him saw his unique generosity in a multitude of ways throughout his life. Chuck would really give you the shirt off his back and even his shoes if not more! Again, in his own way, he privately arranged to give to others after he was “called Home” to be Jesus, as he was an Organ Donor.
He enjoyed life, but most of all he loved being a Daddy to his son, Bay. As he got older, he appreciated good people even more. He would sometimes even tell that person, “You are such a good human”. Meaning it with the utmost respect, again in his own unique way!
He was preceded in death by his Daddy, William Elliott Hendon, and survived by his only son, William Baylor “Bay” Hendon of Flora, MS, his mother, Shirley Diane Hendon of Hattiesburg, MS, his sister, Terri Lynn Warden (Michael Tracy) of Seminary, MS, and brother, Christopher Shannon Hendon of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
There were some who had the rare opportunity to hear Chuck say, “ I just want to be there cleaning/sweeping the streets!” (referring to being in Heaven). Those who knew him best know he is in Heaven with many he loved and certainly meeting many new friends, all while discussing how unbelievable it is!
