Donna Hamner King, 81, of Indianola, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson with her loving family by her side.

Donna was born March 7, 1939 in Greenville to Thomas Powell Hamner and Sarah Frances Walton Hamner. She married Glen King on June 1, 1957, and together they made their home in Indianola. Donna was a charter member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also active in the WMU. Donna was a very devoted Christian woman with a sweet Godly spirit. She loved the Lord and she loved her church. Donna was also very devoted to her family, who she adored. She and Glen raised their children in a loving Christian home and taught them to love the Lord, which they taught their children. Donna leaves behind a strong legacy of Christian devotion and love for family.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frances Hamner.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 years, Glen King of Indianola; two daughters, Cheri King Peeples and her husband Greg of Louisville, and Alana King Moore and her husband Buster of Indianola; four grandchildren, Sarah Clark and her husband Justin, Anna Willoughby and her husband Andrew, Thomas Moore, and Rachael Peeples; and three great grandchildren, Della Rose Willoughby, Beverly Lynn Clark, and Jackson Henry Willoughby.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Eastwood Baptist Church. A private family funeral will be held with Rev. Ron Burch officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and CDC recommendations for safety, the family will have a private visitation prior to the public visitation. The public is welcome to come by Burton Funeral Home prior to noon on Thursday, or to come to Eastwood Baptist Church Thursday between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to sign the register book or leave a private condolence for the family. The family is trying to be mindful of their safety and the safety of others.
