Doris Cockrell Bennett, 73, of Independence, Ohio and formerly of Indianola, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Seasons of Life Hospice Center in Parma, Ohio surrounded by her family. She was born in Sunflower County and was the daughter of James Monroe and Willie Lucille Cockrell. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Bennett; sister, Frankie Ellis; and brother, Charles Cockrell.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Bill Bennett and his wife Cammie of Isola, Mississippi, Richard Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio; daughters, Patty Blaze and her husband Tom, and Hannah Bennett of Independence, Ohio; three grandchildren Toni Beckwith, Henry Bennett, and BJ Milam; four great grandchildren Helen, Paisley, William and Charley; three brothers, Billy Cockrell and his wife Sara, Winford Cockrell and his wife Levetar, and Bobby Cockrell; three sisters, Jean Donald and her husband James, Charlotte Holloway and her husband Anthony, and Barbara Amason and her husband Arnold, and 16 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 10th from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Celebration of Life Service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola, Mississippi. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
