Zola Doris Gunter Boyer, 96, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Magnolia Place Retirement Home in Sumrall. She resided in Indianola until March of 2018. Doris was born December 4, 1923, in Dixon, Mississippi to Enoch and Zeffie Gunter. She was a graduate of Delta State University with a BS in library science, she also held a master's degree from Oklahoma University in library science. Mrs. Boyer worked as the librarian at Mississippi Delta Junior College for 15 years until her retirement.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Indianola. Mrs. Boyer is survived by her children, Amos "Eddie" Boyer, Jr. of Hattiesburg, Barbara Joyce Lott of Clinton, and Joseph Gunter Boyer of Indianola; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Amos E. Boyer who died in August 1970. A private graveside service for the family will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Indianola City Cemetery with Dr. Guy Burke officiating.
