Obituary

Dorothy Wilson Dayley, passed away on August 8th, 2022, in her home in Dallas, Texas.

Dorothy was born on December 6, 1952, in Indianola, Mississippi to Edgar Alonzo and Marie Wilson Dailey.  She was raised in the Methodist Church and was a devout Christian.  She attended school in Indianola and graduated from Indianola Academy in 1971.  Dorothy received a Bachelor of Art in Library Science from Mississippi University for Women in 1975.  While at the "W", she was involved in numerous clubs and organizations.  After graduation she started her career as a teacher in Yazoo City while studying to get her master's degree from Delta State.  After receiving her masters, Dorothy moved to Texas to start a new career as a law librarian and spend more time with her nephew and nieces.  After her retirement, she donated her time working with the homeless.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Madie Dailey White, and brother-in-law, Michael Alan White, of Richardson, Texas, nephew, Kevin Andrew White (Willis Texas) and family, nieces, Sarah Elizabeth White (Richardson, Texas) and family and Amy Katherine Chism (Fayetteville, North Carolina) and family. She is preceded in death by her parents.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm,  Saturday, July 27, 2024, at First Methodist Church in Indianola with Rev. Michael Lindsay officiating. A private family burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
