Mary Earnestine Rodgers Hancock, 90, of Tupelo, and formerly of Indianola, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Earnestine was born August 2, 1933, in Moorhead, to Earnest Scrap Rodgers and Myrtle Stephens Rodgers. She worked as a legal secretary for Clark, Davis, and Belk in Indianola for over 50 years prior to her retirement. Earnestine was a member of First Methodist Church in Indianola and was a member of the Schwartz, Ward, Rose Sunday School Class. She was also a longtime member of the Indianola Garden Club.

Earnestine was preceded in death by her parents, Scrap and Myrtle Rodgers and her husband, Robert Stanley Hancock, Sr.

She is survived by two sons, Robert "Bob" Stanley Hancock, Jr. (Amy Sloan Hancock) of Hoover, Alabama and David Steven Hancock (Beth Dalton Hancock) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Alexander "Xan" Steven Hancock (Jordan Ward Hancock) of Saltillo, Elizabeth Marie Hancock Bagley (Paul) of Atlanta, Georgia, Haley Rodgers Hancock of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jenna Elyse Hancock of Saltillo; and one great grandchild, Reagan Lee Hancock.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Michael Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery in Moorhead. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
