Ed Wayne Sheffield, 77, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital. He was born May 28, 1938 in Moorhead, and was the son of Nathan Robert and Emma Timbs Sheffield.

Ed Wayne was a salesman for Dixie Tobacco for 33 years until his retirement. He loved being outdoors, and most especially loved gardening. Ed Wayne's love for his family was most evident, but above all, he loved his Lord. He was a member of Moorhead Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Neil Sheffield and Mack Lynn Sheffield; sisters, Penny Halligan, Laura Mae Ferguson, and Helen Vontice Nicholson.

Ed Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Peggy Sheffield of Indianola; sons, Nathan Thomas Sheffield of Jonesboro, AR, Jason Sheffield (Lindsey) of Leland, Brian Bailey (Debra) of Indianola, Mark Bailey (Angela) of Linn; daughters, Marlena Owens (Randy) of Olive Branch, Tammy Farrish of Desoto, TX, Joyce Dempsey of Byram, MS, Lisa Alford (Mark) of Prairieville, LA; brothers, Allen Sheffield (Francis) of Burlison, TN, Jimmy Sheffield of Indianola; sisters, Trilby McCoy (Waymond) of Moorhead, Brenda Lassett (Alton) of Indianola, June Nicholson of Greenville; thirteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Moorhead Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home, Indianola.
