Edgar Donahoe, 84, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home. Born October 19, 1933 to Ernest and Ellie Mae Donahoe, he lived his entire life in the Roundaway community near Indianola, Ms. where he farmed and raised cattle. He worked in management fifteen years for Ludlow Manufacturing Company. Elected in 1983, he served as supervisor for Sunflower County for thirty-two years, retiring in 2015. He also served fourteen years on the Sunflower County School Board and was presently on the executive board of South Delta Planning and Development District.
In 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Nell Mitchell. Edgar loved his Lord, his church, his family, and kids in general. Whether a head start picnic, a Sunday school party, family reunion or show and tell at kindergarten there was always a fish to catch, a pony to ride, a calf that needed a bottle or a calf to show in 4:H and a hamburger to be cooked. He spent many hours working with children and took great joy in doing so.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 66 years, his daughters Kay (Randall) O'Brien from Jefferson City, TN; Lanell (Mike) Quinley from Ocala, FL; and son Eddie (Jana) Donahoe from Indianola, MS. He also leaves grandchildren Elise (Sean) Tilson, Shannon (Eric) Evans, Chris O'Brien, Alana (James)Hanshaw, Amanda (Clay) Campbell, Trey (Sarah Nan) Donahoe, Megan Kaye Donahoe, and Drew Donahoe. He is also great grandfather to Aloysha, Moses, Taavi, Oscar, Savannah, Emma, and Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Nell (C. W.) Young, Juawice (Jr) Poe, brothers Donald Donahoe, Carlton (Doris) Donahoe, and infant grandson Matthew Quinley.
His favorite expression was always "I am a blessed man" and so he was.
