Edward "Eddie"
Gullett
Apr 8, 1967 — Jan 4, 2026
Belzoni
Edward Dewayne "Eddie" Gullett, 58, of Belzoni, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Eddie was born on April 8, 1967, in Indianola to John Edward "Johnny" Gullett and Janice McMillian Gullett. He was a 1985 graduate of Humphreys Academy and earned a degree in drafting from Mississippi Delta Community College. He later went to the police academy. Eddie served as a police officer in Indianola and Belzoni for over 10 years, where he worked on undercover investigations and narcotics cases. He then worked as a welder and handyman. Eddie could fix anything. He was a kindhearted man who loved to help anyone, as shown by his heroic final act of organ donation. Eddie was an artist who loved to paint, a musician, and a cook who loved to feed his friends and family. He enjoyed working in his garden, hunting, and fishing. Some of his favorite times were going to his family's hunting camp at Delta National. He will be remembered as a stubborn bull Aries. Above all, Eddie had a strong faith in the Lord and knew his bible from cover to cover. He loved his kids, grandkids, and his "lil' ol' wife." Eddie was a member of Gooden Lake Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Josephine Gullett, Willie and Beatrice McMillian; stepson, Chad White; cousins, Bobby and Ricky McMillian; and brother-in-law, Colt Evans.
Eddie is survived by his father, Johnny Gullett (Tina) of Belzoni; mother, Janice McMillian Gullett of Belzoni; his wife of 15 years, Jamie Gullett of Belzoni; son, Miles Edward Gullett (Lauren) of New Orleans, Louisiana; one daughter, Alyssa Grayson Gullett McGee (Parker) of Starkville; two step daughters, Kayla Allen and Ashtian Allen, both of Gulfport; step brother, Bo Jones of Inverness; two sisters, Lacy Hathcock (Matt) of Lexington and Emily Evans of Belzoni, two step sisters, Crystal Jones of Belzoni and Ashley Hilmus of Inverness; five grandchildren, Rylan McGee, Jordyn White, Remi White, Kayden Allen, Octavia Allen, and one more on the way; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at First Baptist Church in Belzoni. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm with Bro. Steve Painter officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
