A memorial service for Edward "Eddie" Olen Hendon, 64, of Indianola, will be celebrated Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the celebration service. Eddie passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
Eddie was one of four children born to Olen and Dot Hendon. He was born on July 15, 1951 in Indianola. Eddie studied at Sunflower County Schools where he played football and baseball. He was a Christian and a member of Second Baptist Church, Indianola.
Eddie had a heart as large as this world. His home was one of welcome, with a warm and caring atmosphere. He loved people and was kind and such a compassionate person to all. Eddie had a great sense of humor and his love for Elvis' music made him special. His nickname was Elvis to many. He always enjoyed working on his mustang and riding up and down the strip. You would always see him at one of the local garages.
Eddie is survived by his children, Stephanie Hendon Owens and husband Barry of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Phillip Anthony Hendon and wife Lori of Batesville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bradley Hunter Hendon of Lake City, Florida and Jax Anthony Hendon of Batesville, Arkansas; sisters, Dotsi Campbell and husband Bland of Charles Town, West Virginia and Donna Manning and husband Kirk of Leland, Mississippi; brother, Michael Hendon and wife Tonya of Mandeville, Louisiana; four nephews, two nieces, and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Olen and Dorothy Anthony Hendon, and one son, Edward Olen Hendon, Jr.
