Obituary

Marjorie Elaine Spencer Campbell, 82, of Bay Springs, MS, and formerly of Indianola, MS, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Jasper General Nursing Home, Bay Springs, MS. Marjorie was born in Moorhead, MS, and was the daughter of Reuben L. and Emma Lou Coleman Spencer. She worked as a police dispatcher for the Starkville Police Department for a number of years. She continued her work in public service as the Justice Court Clerk for Sunflower County and then for Oktibbeha County.

Majorie was a steady presence for everyone she cared about. She stood by them through many valleys, lifting them up when they needed strength and reminding them that love can carry them through anything. Her kindness, her loyalty, and her gentle spirit touched so many lives. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Campbell, Sr., of 52 years; her parents; one brother, Reuben L. Spencer III; one sister, Peggy Spencer Morgan; and son-in-law, Steve Green.

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Deborah Campbell Green Brown (Joe) of Louin, MS; son, Claude Lamar Campbell, Jr., of Louin, MS; special honorary son, Steve Olson, of Hampshire, TN; granddaughter, Ashley Green Dale (Connely) of Picayune, MS, great-grandson, Spencer Connely Dale; and great-granddaughter, Alaina Kathryn Dale, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Indianola City Cemetery, Indianola, MS. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements. Pastor Connely Dale will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tim Pyles, Roger Anthony, Reuben Spencer IV, James Campbell, and Joe Brown. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ken Spencer. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful nurses, aides, and entire staff at the Jasper General Nursing Home for their compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to our Mother during her time there.
