Eldy Loyd Card, 83, of Indianola, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Eldy was born February 8, 1936 in Walthall to William Walter Card and Mary Frances Drucilla Swindle Card. He married Betty Jean Harris Card and together, they made their home in Greenville until her death. Eldy worked for the Greenville Park Commission, Logan's Towing Company, and retired from Broadway Linen where he was the maintenance supervisor. He married Frances Blackwell in 1997 and they made their home in Indianola. Eldy began working for Burton Funeral Home in Indianola in 2010 as a funeral assistant. He was a hardworking man and always had to be busy doing something. Eldy enjoyed gardening and would plant a vegetable garden every year. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola.
Eldy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Jean Card; and seven siblings, Alvie, Maxine, Ealie, J.W., Howard Sanford, Janice, and Danny.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Blackwell Card of Indianola; son, Eldy Loyd "Butch" Card, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Greenville; daughter, Debra Lynn Brown and her husband Jerry of Wayside; three brothers, Raymond Card of Winona, Douglas Card of Indianola; and Robby Card and his wife Lynn of Winona; and one sister, Margaret Staggs of Eupora; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 3, 2018 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for our "Brother Eldy".
