Eleanor Miller Smith Kyte, 85, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her home.
Eleanor was born September 26, 1939, in Caile to Elizabeth and Henry Smith. She grew up in Caile and attended Central Delta Academy in Inverness and graduated from Inverness High School. Eleanor received her bachelor's degree in education and her master's degree in education from Delta State University in Cleveland. She taught school in the Bolivar County School system for 24 years prior to moving to Carrollton in 1981. Eleanor then taught at WC Williams in Greenwood for 12 years. She also taught at Carroll Academy, Amanda Elzy, Greenwood Alternative School and Saint Francis School before retiring from teaching. Eleanor also worked at 82 Package Store for 10 years and then retired to enjoy life at home with family. She was an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed watching westerns and Elvis Presley movies.
Eleanor is preceded in death by husband, Ralph Edward Kyte, Jr.; the father of her children, Steve M. Kimbrell; sons, Raleigh Andrew Kimbrell and Steve M. Kimbrell, Jr.; and brother Robert Alfred Smith.
She is survived by son, Marc(Andrea) Kimbrell of Carrollton; daughter, Meg Kimbrell of Carrollton; son Robert (Alane) Kimbrell of Houston, Mississippi; stepdaughter, Kathy Kyte (Tommy) Thompson of Georgia; sister, Frances Smith Williams of Indianola; brother, Randolph William Smith of Poplar Grove, Arkansas; grandchildren, Andy Poe of Carrollton, Matthew (Kimberly) Poe of Terry, Ashley (Nick) Kammerdiener of Georgia, Brannon (Melissa) Thompson of Georgia, Caitlyn (Brandon) Armstrong of New Albany, Gracie Kimbrell of Sherman, Hayden Kimbrell of Belden, Carley (Justice) Preston of Tupelo, Haley (Chad) Johnson of Summerville, South Carolina, Elizabeth Kimbrell (Mitchell) Roberts of Mebane, North Carolina, and Aaron Kimbrell (Carece) Kimbrell of Little Rock, Arkansas.
A private family graveside will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Wright Miller Cemetery in Caile. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
