Ellen Walker Hudson of Corona, California, and formerly of Isola, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 with her loving family by her side.

She was born at home in Isola, Mississippi on February 20, 1934 with the name Sonora Ellen Walker and was the daughter of James Monroe Walker and Maggie Grace Gannan Walker. Ellen was the second of eight daughters. She grew up on a farm in Isola, and later moved to California with her older sister Helen and her husband Louis Lyle. They later moved to San Diego, California where she met and married Ronald James Hudson in 1958. She and Ronald celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2008 and Ronald passed away the following year from Alzheimer's. Ellen was a legal secretary for over 30 years for Gus Papas, until they both retired. She loved her job, but loved her family and friends more. Ellen loved going to her grandchildren's swim meets and dance recitals. She had family dinners at her house every Saturday night with her daughter, son, and their families.

Ellen was preceded by her parents, James Monroe Walker and Maggie Grace Gannan Walker and her oldest sister, Helen Lyle.

She leaves her daughter Elaine Brinker, husband Todd and grandchildren Jensen and Katherine. Also, her son Steven Hudson, wife Anne and grandchildren Jean and Nora. She also leaves her six surviving sisters, Peggy Duke, Syble Johnson, Nancy Baggett, Sandra Logan, Sue Walker and Kathryn Gardner.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
