Ellen Grooms Weeks, 80, of Indianola, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at her home.

Ellen was born April 6, 1941, in Tennessee to Douglas and Christine Wallace Grooms. She was an emergency room nurse at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola for 42 years prior to her retirement. Ellen was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Clark Lyon VFW Post 4731 in Indianola. She was a former Cubs Scout and Brownie troop leader. Ellen enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play ball. Her happiest time was spent with her children and grandchildren.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Christine Grooms; her beloved husband, Harry Weeks; and three brothers, James Grooms, Richard Grooms, and Joe Grooms.

She is survived by three sons, Steve (Banda) Weeks of Inverness, David (Linda) Weeks of Inverness, and Robbie (Jana) Weeks of Jackson; daughter, Jan Ellen (Richard) Moore of Tennessee; two sisters, Robin Dotson and  Jeannie (Bill) Gleeson of Maynard, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Burton Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.  Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
