Elvia Denise New Dollahite, 61, of Daytona Beach, Florida, and formerly of Isola and Glen Allan, lost her battle with pulmonary fibrosis on Monday, June 26, 2017. She entered eternity peacefully while at home with family.

Elvia was born on December 10, 1955, to Howard and Bobbie New in Sikeston, Missouri. Elvia and William Dollahite were married on July 3, 1976 in Glen Allan, Mississippi at Glen Allan Methodist Church.

She received a Certificate of Secretarial Science and worked at Kings Daughters Hospital and Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville; South Sunflower County Hospital, SuperValu, and Double Quick Corporate Office in Indianola. After moving to Florida, she worked in administration at Horizons Condo and Continental Group, and Sykes Home/Alpine Access until illness forced her to retire.

Elvia was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Dwight New and Howard Franklin New.

She leaves her beloved husband and friend of 40 years, William Dollahite; one son, John New Dollahite and his wife Emily; one daughter, Amy Perkins and husband Cory; three brothers, Danny New and wife Deborah, Howard Lynn New and wife Debbi, and Randy New and wife Rose; one grandson, Stephen Rhea Dollahite; two granddaughters, Marley Payton Perkins and Maggie Page Perkins; nieces and nephews including Blake New and wife Mari Katherine, Kris New and wife Deanne, Daniel New and wife Nikki, Melanie New Nixon and husband Mark, and Amanda Prestage; and their children; a myriad of close maternal cousins and one paternal cousin, Jean Carroll; one sister-in-law, Jude Patterson and her husband Brian; and niece, Kate Patterson Ueda and husband Kosuke.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 30, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Glen Allan Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
