Obituary

Esther Cadena Navarro, 87, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

Esther was born December 22, 1933, in Carnes City, Texas, to Ynes Cadena and Alvina Cano Cadena. She worked for Modern Line Products in Indianola for many years prior to her retirement.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfredo Navarro; son, Steven Navarro; daughter, Lupe Navarro; granddaughter, Christina; brother, Diego Cadena; and two sisters, Maria Hernandez, and Simona Castaneda.

She is survived by three children, Alfredo Navarro, Jr. (Mary) of Greenville, Jimmy Navarro of Indianola, and Julie Buchanan (Bob) of Indianola; two brothers, Adam Cadena (Carlotta) of Arizona, and Ynes Cadena, Jr. (Nancy) of Grenada; five grandchildren, Ruthie, Tishanna, Alfredo Lee, Stephanie, and Kaci; and eleven great grandchildren, Christina, Steven, Alfredo Jr., Gracie, Emily, Jassmine, Kelsey, Alvaro Jr., Bianca, Selena, and Louis.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Indianola. The funeral mass will begin at 2:00 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
